Brooklyn Nine-Nine Characters & Their Enneagram Types

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Characters & Their Enneagram Types

Brooklyn Nine-Nine had a lot of characters with similar values, but no two had the exact same Enneagram type in the workplace sitcom.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine may be over, but fans are still laughing at their hilarious cold opens, like the infamous Backstreet Boys’ criminal lineup. Additionally, each member of the 99 brings something different to the table, whether that be Holt’s stoic leadership, Jake’s never-ending enthusiasm for a case, or Amy’s ultra-organized desk full of color-coded binders.

Enneagram types are helpful in distinguishing the personalities of different people and characters. Brooklyn Nine-Nine has a lot of characters with similar values and ways they go about living their lives, but no two had the exact same Enneagram type. For example, Holt and Amy are both Type 1s, but they have different wings that make their personalities completely different.

Doug Judy – 4w5

Doug Judy is both Jake’s greatest nemesis and one of his best friends. He only appears in a handful of episodes, but he is a Brooklyn Nine-Nine side character with main character energy. Despite causing constant chaos and wreaking havoc on the 99, Doug has a good heart.

Doug’s personality type fits that of a 4 wing 5. 4s are individualists; they’re deeply creative and do their best in individual settings. His wing is a 5 because he is highly observant, always knowing how to get the best of Jake and outrun trouble.

Gina Linetti – 4w3

Like Doug Judy, Gina Linetti is incredibly creative and innovative — two big traits in type fours. She primarily keeps to herself at the office, except when she feels like causing a little bit of trouble and annoying her co-workers.

Gina’s wing is a 3 because she is always trying to be the best at what she does. She walks around in a “Gina Knows Best” sweatshirt, and is extremely confident in her knowledge and abilities, backing down and giving in to no one.

Terry Jeffords – 9w1

Terry Jeffords wants to go about his day in peace and quiet, but nobody else at the 99 can allow him to have that. He also wants the best for his co-workers and friends and strives to have everything run as smoothly as possible.

Because of this, Terry is a type 9, also known as the peacemaker. His wing is a 1 because he aims for perfection in his personal and professional life. He never settles for anything less, and constantly pushes himself to be the best and most well-suited for his position.

Rosa Diaz – 5w4

Rosa Diaz is a great officer because she is so in tune with her own instincts and she trusts her gut. She is an observer, constantly taking in the world around her and making decisions based on what she sees.

Rosa’s wing is a 4. She likes to keep to herself and finds creative ways to get her job done, but ultimately she is at her best when she takes notice of everyone else. While nobody knows what Rosa’s next move was, she’s already figured out everyone else’s.

Charles Boyle is as loyal as they come. He is a loving (albeit sometimes clingy) best friend to Jake and the number one supporter in all of his endeavors.

Type 6s are loyalists, feeling their safest when they’re in the comfort of people they love and trust. In return, they will do whatever it takes to protect the people they care about, just as Boyle does. His wing is a 7, the enthusiast, because he’s always game to have a fun time, especially if it means accompanying Jake.

Raymond Holt – 1w9

Raymond Holt is the definition of a 1w9. His main type is the perfectionist, and he gives everything his all and never settles for less than perfect.

His wing is a 9 because he consistently seeks peace and unity within the precinct he manages. He isn’t big on hijinks and chaos and feels the most comfortable when the people around him do what he asks. Holt’s peacemaker energy continually contradicts Jake’s free spirit, leading to lots of hilarity and miscommunication.

Amy Santiago – 1w2

Amy Santiago makes it clear from the pilot episode that she is a perfectionist, almost to a fault. She has color-coded binders and files and is a little high-strung and unwavering in her routines.

At her core, Amy is a 1w2. She had a desire to be perfect, but she is also able to let her guard down and empathize with the people around her. She has a huge heart, one that loves helping people in need and giving back. Often times Amy stole the show due to her nerdy perfectionism and limitless compassion.

Jake Peralta – 7w6

Jake Peralta is the most fun-loving, free-spirited, and sometimes even the smartest detective in the 99. He is passionate about his work, but at the end of the day just wants to have a good time with the people he loves — those people being his co-workers.

Jake is a type 7, the enthusiast, always looking for ways to make work exciting and fun. His wing is 6 because he is fiercely loyal to the people who surround him. He has a lot of childhood trauma issues with his dad leaving, and he needs his wife, best friends, and mentors to lean on.
